the one with celebrities

I think I must attract celebrities. Well, I guess they are not celebrities in the Hollywood sense. They are not movie or tv stars, but they are celebrities in their own field or should I say court. (If you remember in December, I met former President George H.W. Bush.) Well today I was running all over town looking for National Championship shirts for my family. It was a little annoying because they each wanted a different shirt and that required going to a few different stores and a couple of trips to the same store because they didn't have their shipments in yet. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to help my family and it did cut down on two weeks of shipping, but today I was tired, so kind of not in the mood. But I sucked it up to cross one more thing off my to-do list and have one less thing to worry about. I was walking out of CC Creations (my final stop of the day) and I see these girls like 30 ft away from me. And here is what happened next:

The thoughts running through my mind:
1) Oh. My. Gosh. I'm pretty sure that's Sydney Colson and Maryann Baker.
2) What should I do?
3) I'm dying to meet them.
4) I'm sure they are tired of being bombarded everywhere they go. They'll think I'm annoying.
5) But I can't just walk by without saying anything! I mean, they are like Aggie royalty right now.
6) Should I just walk by and say 'Congratulations'?
7) Or should I just walk by, give them a slight what-up? nod, and play it cool?
8) I don't want them to think I am a crazy fan.
9) Well, who cares what they think? I am a crazy fan.
10) Ahhh, ok crap. It's now or never. You have to make a decision, Amy. For once in your life, be decisive!
11) Oh well that man just stopped them and asked to take a picture of them. Surely, it's ok?
12) Screw it, I'm doing it. They won't even remember me after this.
13) Here goes nothing.

Yep, all that ran through my head and all in about 7 seconds. So I decided to walk over to them and introduce myself and snag a picture. After all, it would make my family and friends so jealous!

I walked up to them, and said "Hi, I'm Amy. Congratulations on the game the other night. Y'all did a great job." They introduced themselves (like I didn't know who they were) and asked me what was up. I replied "Oh, just here buying all of my family National Championship shirts. You know gotta keep them happy. They do pay for me to go to school here. (In my head: Oh my gosh, why did I add that last part? I just blab everything that pops into my head. I'm sure they don't care.) Anyways, I'm sorry to bother you, but could I possibly take a picture with you?"

We looked around the parking lot and realized there was no one around, so I suggested we walk back inside and see if one of the cashiers could take it for us. They were fine with this, since they were heading that way anyways, so we start walking the 30 ft back into the store. On the way back, they were so nice. Sydney asked me what year I was in school and I told her I was a senior. She probably thought I was a freshman the way I was practically drooling over them. Then she was asking me what I was going to do after graduation and so I told her, I was a basic failure as a senior because I didn't have a job yet.

Ok, I didn't say all that...I just said I didn't have a job yet, I was a business major, but I wanted to teach (Again, probably adding too much information). She asked if I wanted to stay in College Station, and I was like I'll go anywhere I can get a job. Then I proceeded to ask them what they were doing after graduation...but I was thinking, "Oh my gosh, I'm an idiot. Coach Blair announced yesterday that Sydney was invited to the draft." Thankfully, they were both very kind and did not point out my stupidity. Maryann said she was in the same boat as me, and Sydney said she hoped she would be playing basketball somewhere.

Finally, we arrived back inside and I asked the first person I saw to take our picture. Maryann made sure the lighting was okay, and after the picture was taken, they checked to make sure it looked good or if we needed to do another one. I don't look fabulous in it, but I didn't want to be that person that makes them take 17 pictures until it's perfect. I thanked them for being so gracious and allowing me to meet them. They were so nice! I wish I could be best friends with them.

So that was my celebrity run-in today. Pretty exciting stuff (except I seem to act like a complete dweeb around people who just won a national championship)! Normally, I try not to pay too much attention to student athletes, I don't want to give them a big head. But I think these girls are allowed a big head and need a little respect for the hard work they just did. I made sure I played it cool until I got back in my car, then I let out a little squeal. I mean, I just meet Sydney Colson and Maryann Baker!! National Champions in the flesh. All you Ags jealous yet? You should be! Here is the picture for proof, dear friends.
